Ingredients

1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/45°C)

2 tablespoons white sugar

1 tablespoon active dry yeast

4 cups bread flour

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon salt

Directions

Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Let sit for 10 minutes until creamy.

Add 2 cups flour, oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir in the rest of the flour, ½ cup at a time, until the dough pulls away from the bowl.

Knead on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour.

Punch down the dough and divide into 16 pieces. Shape into balls and place on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise for 40 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake rolls for 18–20 minutes until golden brown.
