Ham and Cheese Sticks

Ingredients:

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
6 slices deli ham
6 sticks mozzarella cheese (or string cheese)
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for topping)

Directions:

Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Prepare Puff Pastry:
Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into 6 equal rectangles.
Assemble Sticks:
On each puff pastry rectangle, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard (if using). Place one slice of ham and one mozzarella stick on each piece. Roll the pastry over the filling, sealing the edges well. You can pinch the seams or use a fork to crimp them closed.
Make Egg Wash:
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water. Brush the tops of the pastry sticks with the egg wash.
Add Seasoning:
Sprinkle the tops with garlic powder, dried oregano, and sesame seeds or poppy seeds if desired.
Bake:
Place the ham and cheese sticks on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
Cool and Serve:
Let them cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm when the cheese is gooey!
