Filipino Beef Lumpia

Ingredients:

For the Filling:
1 lb ground beef
1 cup finely chopped carrots
1 cup finely chopped onion
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 large egg
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper

For Wrapping:
30–40 lumpia wrappers (spring roll wrappers, thawed if frozen)
1 beaten egg or water (for sealing the wrappers)

For Frying:
Vegetable oil for deep frying

Directions:

Prepare the Filling:
1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, carrots, onions, garlic, and egg.
2. Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper.
3. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly combined.

Assemble the Lumpia:
4. Lay a lumpia wrapper flat on a clean surface in a diamond shape (one corner facing you).
5. Place about 1 tablespoon of the filling near the bottom corner of the wrapper.
6. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold the left and right corners inward.
7. Roll the wrapper tightly toward the top corner, sealing the edge with beaten egg or water.
8. Repeat until all filling is used.

Fry the Lumpia:
9. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
10. Fry the lumpia in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy (about 3–4 minutes).
11. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Serve:
12. Let cool slightly before serving with dipping sauce of choice.
