Classic Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf Recipe
Transform the flavors of the iconic Philly Cheesesteak into a comforting meatloaf.
Ingredients:
For the Meatloaf:
1 lb (450g) ground beef
1 lb (450g) ground pork
1 cup breadcrumbs
2 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 onion, finely chopped
1 cup shredded provolone cheese
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
For the Topping:
1/2 cup sautéed onions and green bell peppers
1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a loaf pan.
2. Prepare Meatloaf Mix: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, pork, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, diced peppers, onions, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until fully combined.
3. Layer Cheese: Press half the meat mixture into the loaf pan. Create a shallow well and fill it with shredded provolone cheese. Cover with the remaining meat mixture.
4. Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
5. Add Topping: In the final 10 minutes, top the meatloaf with sautéed onions, bell peppers, and shredded cheese. Return to the oven to melt the cheese.
6. Rest & Serve: Allow the meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with toasted hoagie rolls or mashed potatoes for the ultimate comfort meal.
