Classic Hamburger Steaks with Caramelized Onion Sauce
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
Directions:
In a bowl, mix the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 patties.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and cook for 5-6 minutes, until softened and caramelized.
Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir well. Gradually add beef broth while stirring to create a smooth gravy.
Stir in Worcestershire sauce and thyme. Let the gravy simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
Return the patties to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Serve the hamburger steaks with the onion gravy over mashed potatoes or rice
