Char Siu Chicken

Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)
2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Directions

In a bowl, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and five-spice powder. Whisk until smooth.
Place chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish, then pour the marinade over the chicken. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight).
Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat (375°F or 190°C).
Grill or bake the chicken for 6-7 minutes per side or until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Once the chicken is done, brush it with any remaining marinade and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
