Crispy Potatoes Saucy Beef
Ingredients:
For the crispy potatoes:
3 medium Yukon gold or russet potatoes, peeled and diced
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
For the saucy beef:
1 lb (450 g) ground beef or small beef cubes
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 red bell pepper, diced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon honey
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for heat)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
Crisp the potatoes: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced potatoes and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Brown the beef: In the same skillet, add the ground beef (or beef cubes) and cook over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Break up the meat with a spatula if using ground beef. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Add aromatics: Stir in the chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until the vegetables are soft and fragrant.
Make the sauce: In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, tomato paste, ketchup, honey, water, and chili flakes. Pour this into the skillet with the beef. Stir well and simmer for 5–6 minutes, allowing the sauce to reduce slightly and coat the beef.
Combine and serve: Add the crispy potatoes back to the skillet and toss everything together until the potatoes are coated in the saucy beef mixture. Cook for another 1–2 minutes to heat through.
Garnish and enjoy: Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley and serve hot—perfect as a hearty main or a comforting side dish!
