Old-Fashioned Buttermilk Fried Pork Chops

Old-Fashioned Buttermilk Fried Pork Chops

Ingredients:

4 bone-in pork chops (about 1-inch thick)

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp paprika

½ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp onion powder

Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:

Marinate:
Place pork chops in a shallow dish and pour over the buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (overnight for deeper flavor).

Prep Coating:
In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Dredge:
Remove pork chops from buttermilk, letting the excess drip off. Coat each chop in the seasoned flour, pressing gently so it sticks well.

Fry:
Heat ¼ inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When hot, carefully place chops in the skillet without overcrowding.

Cook:
Fry for 5–7 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp should be 145°F / 63°C).

Drain & Serve:
Transfer chops to a paper towel–lined plate to drain. Let rest a couple minutes before serving.
