Bring the taste of Filipino street food to your own kitchen with these crispy, golden fish balls. Light, bouncy, and full of flavor — they’re perfect with a sweet or spicy dipping sauce and will remind you of your favorite food stall snack.
Ingredients (Fish Balls):
500g white fish fillet (galunggong, tilapia, pollock, or any firm white fish)
1 small onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 egg white
3 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder (for puffier balls)
1 tsp salt
½ tsp ground pepper
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsp cold water (add more if needed)
Oil for deep frying
How to Make:
1. In a food processor, blend the fish fillet, onion, and garlic until smooth.
2. Add the egg white, cornstarch, flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, sugar, and water. Blend again until the mixture turns sticky and well combined.
3. Scoop small portions of the mixture and shape them into balls using a spoon.
4. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the fish balls over medium heat until golden brown and puffed up.
5. Drain on paper towels and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce — sweet, spicy, or garlic.
Crispy outside, soft inside, and packed with homemade goodness — a true Pinoy classic that never fails to satisfy.
